• Genetics and Development of the Cerebral Cortex
Our lab is interested in the development and evolution of the cerebral cortex, the most anterior part of the central nervous system, which is responsible for higher cognitive functions. The cerebral cortex has a very complex but stereotyped organisation. We try to understand the molecular mechanisms allowing the production of new neurones in correct numbers, at the appropriate time and with the expected identity as well as their subsequent positioning and integration within developing neuronal networks. We therefore study the processes of proliferation, neuronal differentiation, migration, and cell survival.
We use a combination of mouse genetics, in utero and in ovo electroporation, cell or explant cultures, molecular biology, histology and biochemistry.
