A good background in cell biology and neurosciences would be recommended but it is not mandatory.
Course objectives and description
“From the medical to the research point of view”
Aims & Themes : This course proposes an overview of the adult-onset neurodegenerative diseases which comprise a heterogenous group of neurological disorders including Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease and Prion disease.
Organisation : There will be an introduction of each one of the disease, followed by seminars based on the latest discoveries related to this disease in different model organisms. The last day, there will be small presentations discussing the treatments and the different model organisms used to study those diseases discussing the pros and cons of each model with also short presentations of other neurodegenerative diseases.
Assessment
Punctuality, assiduity (12,5%).
Participation during the week (25%).
At the end of the week, you will be asked to give a presentation (5 minutes/two slides) on a given topic (25%), topic that will be assigned at the beginning of the week. Slots are reserved for you to be able to prepare that small presentation.
There will be a written examination within two weeks after the end of the class. This exam will be scheduled in the evening (37,5%)
