Master in Life Science, ENS
Year : 1 (M1)
Semester : 1 (S1)

Course code :

BIO-M1-S09-S1

Course name :

Neuron physiology

Coordinators :

Stéphane SUPPLISSON

ECTS :

6

Keywords :

neuronal excitability, neurotransmitters, ion channels, receptors, electrophysiology, cell imaging

Prerequisites for the course :

Basics in molecular and cellular biology, in neurophysiology and electrical circuits.

Course objectives and description :

This course aims at providing the basic knowledge and technical tools to address in-depth study of the operation of the nervous system. The functioning of neurons will be addressed both at the molecular and cellular levels with particular emphasis on the electrical properties and excitability of the neuronal membrane that is central to brain function.

Assessment / evaluation :

Written examination (2 hrs) consisting of both general questions on cellular neurophysiology and data analysis and comment.

Course material (hand-outs, online presentation available, …) :

Powerpoint presentations
